Customers are a great source of insight into product and service development, and ones who are brand loyal appreciate the opportunity to provide such input. The mobile channel is among the best means of gathering this data.
Step-by-Step
(1) To create a Survey Campaign, select Create New Campaign from the left navigation panel on the product dashboard. You will then be taken to a screen (below) presenting a list of text message campaigns available. In this instance, you click on the Create button alongside Survey.
(2) The Choose Your Campaign homepage is where you establish the parameters for the campaign.
The first step is providing Campaign Type data about the survey:
- Select a shared shortcode to use. A shortcode is a short form mobile phone number which is used along with a keyword to enable customers to engage with your survey.
- Select a Start Date and Time for your campaign.
- Select an End Date and Time for your campaign.
(3) After clicking on the Next button, you now must provide a description of your Survey Campaign, for reference only.
Here you also assign a keyword for responders to text to the shortcode so they may participate in the Survey.
This Keyword must be unique from others associated with the shortcode you selected previously – the system is smart enough to tell you. There is a many to one relationship between keywords and shared shortcodes.
(4) Now you define the question/s to be posed as part of your Survey Campaign.
First provide a message to be received by survey responders when they elect to participate.
You have the option of gathering diverse data about your survey participants which can offer insight into those willing to engage with your business. This is often useful in determining if your program is attracting your target customer as well as for creating follow on campaigns featuring more relevant messaging or content.
Electing this option will initiate one or a series of requests for a variety of demographic attributes, and you can set as well responses for both valid and invalid data to ensure data quality and thank responders for their information.
When done, select the Next button.
(5) Now you must finalize the Survey Campaign’s details. Select the Activate Campaign button when ready.
(6) That’s it! Your Survey Campaign is now active.
You will arrive at a new screen summarizing details of your campaign, offering real time charts of campaign activity and a flow illustrating the messages that comprise the campaign.
You may also elect to prompt users to join a pre-existing Subscription list for engaging customers in dialogues beyond the parameters of the Survey Campaign.
You can also configure an email response here. Clicking Edit alongside “Email Configuration” brings you to a new screen where you can require responders to provide email addresses, and for those who do, trigger an email sent to them. You establish the subject heading and content of the message, and HTML formatted messages are supported.
(6) Here you have additional options including:
- Adding an Age Verification step to your message flow, useful when products associated with your business are age restricted, such as alcohol or tobacco.
- Export survey responses from the system in comma delimited form.
- You can also delete the campaign from the system as well.
