Introduction
Arguably the best known application for the mobile channel, voting is also most often useful to increase customer response in real time (e.g. during radio programs or at live events).
Step-by-Step
(1) To create a Voting Campaign, select Create New Campaign from the left navigation panel on the product dashboard. You will then be taken to a screen (below) presenting a list of text message campaigns available. In this instance, you click on the Create button alongside Voting.
(2) The New Voting Campaign homepage is where you establish the parameters for your campaign.
The first step is providing Basic Information about your campaign:
- Select a shared shortcode to use. A shortcode is a short form mobile phone number which is used along with a keyword to enable customers to participate in your Vote.
- Select a Start Date and Time for your campaign.
- Select an End Date and Time for your campaign.
(4) Now you define the question to be voted upon.
- Enter the question.
- Choose keywords to associate with responses.
- Provide a description for the voting option associated with each keyword.
- Configure an automatic response sent to voters.
- You can also add a carrier specific override message here. Clicking on the option gives you the chance to have unique messages sent to specific carrier subscribers.
Once you are finished creating the voting question, click on the Submit button.
(5) That’s it! Your Voting Campaign is now active.
You will arrive at a new screen summarizing details of your campaign, offering real time charts of contest entry activity and a flow illustrating the messages that comprise the campaign.
Here you also have the ability to establish Alias Keywords which allow tracking of votes by different ways you communicate the program. You may also prompt entrants to join a pre-existing Subscription list for engaging customers in dialogues beyond the Voting Campaign.
Feeds to XML and Text formatted voting results are also offered for posting to a website or visual display.
(6) Here you have additional options including:
- Adding an Age Verification step to your message flow, useful when products associated with your business are age restricted, such as alcohol or tobacco.
- Manage Web Voting Widgets: Configure a web-based version of your vote then generate the code to insert on your website.
- Export responder votes from the system in comma delimited form.
- Configure video display: Allows you to create a customized display of voting results overlaid on a background of your choosing, and for broadcast to a video monitor.
- Export responder messages from the system in comma delimited form.
- You can also duplicate/rename the campaign if you wish to re-use its attributes or delete it from the system as well.
